Hi! My name is Ziyi Guo, and I am a PhD student in the Solomon H. Synder Department of Neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

My work under Dr. Marshall Hussain Shuler focuses on animal's decision making under a reinforcement learning framework. Specifically, I am motivated by these questions:

  1. What algorithms do animals use to time events?
  2. How does the brain promote these behaviors?

Through this work, I explore the underlying representational architecture that enables time investment behaviors, which is fundamental to decision making.

Previously, I pursued an interdisciplinary background by majoring in neuroscience, computer science, and psychology during my undergraduate studies at Brandeis University. I am always humbled by and eager for opportunities to learn and connect different domains of knowledges.

If you wish to contact me, the best way is to email me.
